The intensity swallowed them

Intrinsic strokes that crafted their effervescence

Undying, unceasing, imbuing them with a need for growth

Encasing them in a clear bubble

How long do they hold their breath?

How long do they build their strength?

How long do they dance a prance?

Founded on one goal, one blow

Knock out, judge points, disqualification

Understanding the mechanics of a body — their body

Bringing the energy from the soles of the feet to the center of the fist

Creating a balance, finding a grounding, channeling strength from their center of gravity

Technique, power, talent, hard work.

Will it be enough?

Resilience, impatience, luck.

Will it be enough?

A chance, a build up

Will they slip up? Will it be enough?

Which is better, a blurred path with an intense vision or a clear path and blurred vision?

Is either enough…

When they got here, they took a stand. Found a passion and a reason to work, now in the ring everything is real but not at the same time. The sense of danger as a punch swings towards their stomach. An automated reaction to block through hours of practice — they are safe. They will probably stay safe, the rules make sure of it. The passion that led them into the ring, they bring it all out, but they have to regulate it. Nothing sporadic as each move is calibrated to bring out value, to efficiently build up energy and conserve it within the motion to be transferred to another.

However, will that undying, unceasing force that brought them there pull them where they need to be? Where they want to be?

Or do they need something else.

— inspired by the Boxer webtoon (highly recommend)
